Data Deletion
Last updated: 2026-09-26
You're always in control of your GoodMorning Kolkata account and data. This page explains how to delete your account, and what happens when you do. It works the same way whether you signed up with a password, with Google, or with LinkedIn.
1. Delete your account in the app (recommended)
- Sign in and go to Settings → Account (or goodmorningkolkata.com/settings).
- Open the Danger Zone section and choose Delete account.
- Type
DELETEto confirm (and your password, if your account has one).
Your account is then scheduled for deletion with a 30-day grace period.
2. Request deletion by email
If you can't sign in, email support@goodmorningkolkata.com from the address on your account (or with enough detail to verify you're the account holder) and ask us to delete your account. We'll confirm once it's scheduled, and it follows the same 30-day grace period as §1.
3. The 30-day grace period
- During these 30 days, your account is deactivated (not visible to other users), but not yet permanently deleted.
- You can cancel the deletion any time in this window by signing back in — Settings will show a "Cancel scheduled deletion" option.
- After 30 days, deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
4. What gets deleted
Once the grace period ends, we permanently delete:
- your account, profile, avatar and cover photo;
- your posts, ideas, comments, likes, upvotes, saves and follows;
- business listings you solely own (listings with other team members are transferred or handled per your business's own settings);
- job postings you created, and your own job applications and uploaded résumés;
- events you hosted, and your event registrations;
- your login history, sessions, and connected sign-in providers.
5. What we keep, and why
Indian law (and standard accounting/security practice) requires us to keep a limited amount of information even after deletion:
- records needed to resolve an open abuse report, dispute or legal claim involving your account, until it's resolved;
- transaction or financial records, if any, for the period tax and accounting law requires;
- server and security logs that already existed before your deletion request, until their normal retention period ends (see our Privacy Policy §7);
- an anonymised or aggregated trace of deleted content where removing it entirely would break another user's content (for example, a comment thread) — your name and account are removed from it.
We never keep more than these narrow categories, and never for longer than the law or a legitimate business need (like an unresolved dispute) requires.
6. Deleting only part of your data
You don't have to delete your whole account to remove specific things:
- delete an individual post, idea or comment from where you posted it;
- remove your avatar, cover photo, bio or any profile field in Settings → Profile;
- disconnect a Google or LinkedIn sign-in in Settings → Account → Connected accounts;
- remove a saved résumé in your job application settings.
