Community Guidelines

GoodMorning Kolkata is a community for founders, businesses, investors, mentors, employees, students and dreamers building a stronger Bengal, together. These guidelines explain what we expect from everyone here, alongside our Terms of Service, which they're part of.

1. Be real

• Use your real name and a genuine photo where you can — this is a professional community, and trust matters here.
• Don't impersonate another person, business or organisation, and don't create a fake profile.
• Verify your business listing with your real website or business email — it's how other members know a listing is genuine.

2. Anonymous ideas — used well

You can post an idea anonymously if you're not ready to attach your name to it yet. A few rules make that work fairly for everyone:

• Anonymity is for protecting you, not for avoiding accountability. We still record which account posted an anonymous idea internally, purely for moderation.
• An admin can reveal the author of an anonymous idea only while directly handling an abuse report about it, and every such reveal is logged.
• Don't use anonymity to harass, defame, spread false claims about a specific person or business, or evade a ban.

3. What's not allowed

Content or behaviour that is:

• Spam — unsolicited promotion, repetitive posting, or using the platform to run bulk outreach;
• Harassment — targeting, bullying or threatening another member;
• Hate — attacking people based on identity characteristics like religion, caste, gender, ethnicity, or disability;
• Misinformation — knowingly false claims presented as fact, especially about a business, a person, or an opportunity;
• A fake profile or impersonation — pretending to be someone or something you're not;
• A scam — fraudulent job offers, investment schemes, fake payment requests, or anything designed to defraud another member;
• Illegal content — anything that breaks Indian law.

Report anything you see that crosses these lines using the Report option on the post, profile, business or comment — we review every report.

4. Business listings and jobs

• List a business you actually own, work for, or are authorised to represent.
• Describe it accurately — GoodMorning Kolkata verifies a listing's website or email, not every claim inside it, so accuracy is on you.
• Post real job openings. Don't post a job to collect résumés for something else, or ask applicants to pay for anything.
• Employers and applicants: this is a directory and community, not an escrow or payment service — see our Terms of Service §5 for what that means.

5. Respect other people's content and rights

Only post content you have the right to post. Don't copy someone else's work, business idea write-up, photos or writing without permission.

6. If you break these guidelines

Depending on severity, we may remove the content, warn you, temporarily restrict your account, or permanently suspend it — see our Terms of Service §7. Serious or illegal conduct may also be reported to the relevant authorities.

7. Questions or appeals

If you think a moderation decision on your account or content was a mistake, email support@goodmorningkolkata.com and we'll take another look.
